Spinning is the art of creating usable thread, twine or yarn from masses of loose fiber. While associated with the spinning wheel in modern times, in our time period it usually requires only a spindle and distaff along with the fiber to be spun. Coarser thread is generally easier to create through this skill.
Spinning was historically a very common skill, and its applications in this game are correspondingly broad. For example, lengths of thread are necessary to create many craftable items. For gameplay reasons, the process of creating the necessary loose fibers has been eliminated or greatly simplified in some instances. Specific applications are left as an exercise for the player.
