Approval of new ideas at Accursed Lands is based on many factors. The idea should contribute to the overall theme of our community, improve or expand upon a currently implemented idea, or create new functionality. Ideas are always welcome! However, keeping in mind that Accursed Lands is a unique environment with a specific thematic goal, we reserve the right to reject idea postings that are not in keeping with that goal.
Some examples of ideas which will be rejected are:
- Dragons, fairies, elves, and other high-fantasy creatures
- These are thoroughly (over)done and will not be present in Terrinor. Period.
- Orcs, ogres, cyclops, minotaurs
- More generally, anything from existing mythology or literature; in some cases it may be acceptable to extract the essence of an existing mythology, though this is at best a delicate operation.
- Aristocratic human princes and princesses
- Humans in Accursed Lands are not inclined to refinement and delicacy.
- Anything that is obviously derived from another fantasy world
- This includes Tolkien, WoT books, D&D, Final Fantasy, etc. The inseverable connotations and carry-over ideas from the aforementioned are of themselves sufficient grounds for rejection.
- Ninja, samurai, katana, shuriken
- References to foreign (non-English) cultures will inevitably carry over connotations and stereotypes from their origin; additionally, they disrupt the roleplaying environment by injecting necessarily OOC themes, and will not be welcomed in Accursed Lands.
- Assassins, assassins' guilds
- Free agent assassins have no historical nor logical basis for our desired time period. It is not objectionable for a person devoted to a particular cause to risk life and limb to murder an important opponent -- that is, to perform an assassination -- however, such a person is not defined by said task. They are only instinctually an assassin.
