Every character on Accursed Lands is exclusively a member of a particular race. It would be more accurate to use the word 'species' rather than 'race', but use of the word 'race' is a convention we're stuck with from fantasy literature. From a game-mechanics point-of-view, the individual races all have unique combinations of physical characteristics, mental acuity, aptitude for magic, and inherent skills and abilities. Much more important for our enjoyment of the game are the thematic differences between the races. Each distinct race in Accursed Lands has associated with it a detailed history, culture or cultures, preferred habitat, and general opinion of the other races. It is your duty as a roleplayer to take the opportunity to learn as much as you can about the habits of your character's race. This information isn't spelled out for you in an easily-obtainable OOC format; rather, you are expected to explore in an IC manner, picking up clues from room descriptions, NPCs, in-game literature, and especially in-character interactions. Additional points of interest exist in the information section of Accursed Lands' web site.
