- afk - To excuse yourself when you are going to be away from keyboard for a while.
- badconnect - To indicate that you may be having some connectivity issues.
- bak - To indicate that you have returned.
- bbiab - "Be back in a bit."
- bbl - "Be back later."
- bbs - "Be back soon."
- brb - "Be right back."
- catkey - For when there is an unwelcome typist interfering with your actions
- idle - For when you are going to be idle for a while.
- oocnod - To show agreement.
- ooctypo - To acknowledge that you just made a typo.
- tyop - To indicate that you and your keyboard are not getting along.
- wb - To welcome someone back to the land of the un-idle.
