And so you have gotten yourself hopelessly lost. It is alright, in the game with over six million wilderness rooms and basically infinite underground player dug areas, getting lost is inevitable. It is a good idea to use the remind feature, to prevent yourself from forgetting where you are or where you were going during your last playing session. But since you're reading this help file, chances are this advice is too late, and you are more interested in how to find your way back, than how to prevent yourself from being lost in the future.
Here is some advice that may help you in this situation in Accursed Lands.
Try to find rivers. There might be settlements along the shores, or they might bring you to the ocean, walking along which might bring you back to
civilization. Rivers tend to have a direction; try following the river downstream - it may lead you to an ocean. (Of course, this can be unreliable, as sometimes the world isn't correct, and the rivers flow in odd directions - if this is the case, you should bug the particular location for some creator to fix it). Try to find elevated ground to be able to see far ahead of you, keep in mind that various terrains may impair or improve your sight. If you are on the ground level, the tall trees can block your gaze, while if you've climbed on top of the mountain you might see far ahead, if the lighting allows. Try to look out for roads; those will almost always bring you somewhere, where you can find directions. Start drawing a map, mark out areas of mountains, hills, rivers, forests around where you are. Update it with more information as you move about. Chances are, you haven't kept a map, and that got you lost in the first place it is always a good time to start drawing one. If you feel that you've gone down the wrong direction, or wish to backtrack your steps and explore the opposite side of the mountain, a map will help you greatly. Shouting an occasional cry for help may help you find some that will help you. But keep in mind, such noises may attract beings that may have other ideas about you.
Generally, you should do everything that you would've done in real life to be able to find your way back from the wilderness.
