Everyone must eat in order to survive on Terrinor. If you don't get nourishment you'll soon find yourself growing slow, weak, and eventually passing out from starvation. Similar to real life, the gathering (or slaying) of your meal will at first take up a good bit of your time. Unless you happen to be wealthy enough to afford your meals from a pub or market, you must take care to provide for your next meal. Many of the species on AL are omnivores, able to eat both meat and various plant species. There are also some carnivorous species that prefer only the flavor of meat above all else. Likewise, there are those species who cannot eat meats and will instead eat only plant matter. Less commonly are the few who can obtain nourishment by standing in a patch of sunlight, having no need for the messy consumption of bits and pieces of plants and animals. Not all edible things will be good for you to eat. Use your common sense when choosing your next meal. Beware of anything lying about as there are plenty of unsavory characters who have no qualms about pouring poison onto a tasty bit of food and wait for the next hapless victim to succumb.
