The above commands work with all channels.  Simply substitute the name of the channel you wish to turn off/on in for "newbie" in the syntax shown above.

Available channels:

  • Newbie: The "newbie" channel is for "newbie" players to ask questions and get help and information about the MUD.  It is meant to ask OOC question regarding how to get started.  It is not meant to be a means of communicating information about location, death, quests or any other IC related topic.  Please be helpful if you listen to this channel.
  • Chat: The "chat" channel is for OOC discussions about all sorts of topics. Feel free to yak away on this channel, but remember to respect the other players. As a general rule, if someone politely asks that the topic be dropped, drop it.
  • LFG: The "lfg" channel is provided in order to help players find each other. The channel is considered OOC and should be limited to discussing locations to meet near commonly known population centers.
  • Hints:  The "hints" channel is available to all players but is designed for newbies.  It tells basic syntax for commands and points out things that we creators feel are important to know. It is designed to eliminate some of the frustration when getting used to a new command system on a new game.

A few words on ignores

Ignores are channel-specific, so you can ignore an annoying person on [chat], but still help them if they have questions on [newbie]. Comments from ignored persons will not show up when made, but will still be added to the channel history. Ignoring a creator has no real effect.
